Description

Linescape was born from the desire to distill design into its purest form, reducing it to the simplicity of a line.

This modular furniture system for libraries takes advantage of the natural curvature of wood to create versatile functions and adaptable configurations. Designed for Cassina’s contract market, it seamlessly integrates into different spaces and uses, combining aesthetic elegance with practical flexibility. At its core, a central aluminum crossbeam acts as the primary structural, functional, and visual element, defining the identity of Linescape.

Prototype

The prototyping process involved the use of plywood, veneer, and fabric, shaped through a combination of CNC machining, pressing, and precise hand-finishing.

Molds were first cut using a CNC machine and then used to laminate multiple layers of bendable plywood and veneer, giving them their curved form. Once the structure was set, details were refined by cutting individual pieces and sanding them to perfection. To recreate the cushions, fabric was carefully selected and applied using adhesive, ensuring a clean and seamless finish.
